Bulgaria's Petrol swings to non-cons net loss in 2023

February 13 (SeeNews) - Bulgarian fuel retailer Petrol [BUL:PET] said it posted a standalone net loss of 5.4 million levs ($2.97 million/2.76 million euro) in 2023 compared to a net profit of 11.7 million levs the prior year.

Petrol's operating revenue last year dropped to some 556 million levs from 791.6 million levs in 2022, the company said in a financial statement at the end of last month.

Sales of goods generated some 544.5 million levs, down from 768.7 million levs a year earlier.

In parallel, the company's expenses narrowed to 561.8 million levs in the review period from 779.9 million levs the previous year. Costs of goods sold fell by an annual 30% to 491.8 million levs, while costs for hired services declined by 16% to 22.1 million levs.

Petrol operates over 300 filling stations across Bulgaria and has 23 subsidiaries active in fuel trading and storage.

Shares in Petrol last traded on Monday when they closed at 0.85 levs on the Bulgarian Stock Exchange, bourse data show.
