The project has been co-financed with 10.5 million levs by the EU under operational programme Regions in Growth 2014-2020, RIA said in a statement.

Works on the road section in south-central Bulgaria included laying down of new pavement, repair of the road water drainage systems as well as installation of new road containment systems and road signs.

With the help of the EU, Bulgaria is working on the overhaul of 50 km of Chirpan-Simeonovgrad road. Construction works on two other sections of the road are in their final stages, RIA said.
