October 23 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's sole nuclear power plant Kozloduy said it disconnected early on Tuesday morning its 1,000 megawatt (MW) Unit Six from the country’s power grid over a minor technical problem.

Bulgaria’s NPP Kozloduy unit six offline over minor technical issue

An element from the management system of the unit's generator failed, activating the automatic shutdown, the power plant said in a statement, adding that the issue occurred in the non-nuclear part of the unit.

After the technical issue is resolved, the unit will be reconnected to the power grid, the statement added.

Unit Six was switched off on September 15 for routine annual maintenance and came back on stream on Saturday at 1415 local time.

Kozloduy remained with just two 1,000 MW operational reactors after the government closed down four units of 440 MW each to address nuclear safety concerns of the European Union prior to the country's accession to the bloc. Bulgaria joined the EU in 2007.
