Bulgaria’s Mobiltel appoints new chief marketing officer

The expansion of the management team comes as a response to the company's wider range of marketing activities and bigger customer base following the acquisition of local fixed operators Megalan and Spectrum Net, Mobiltel said in a press release.

Mobiltel wrapped up the acquisition of Spectrum Net and Megalan in January 2011.

Prior to taking this position, Lippautz worked as chief marketing officer at Belorussian telecom Velcom, also part of Telekom Austria Group. In the 2005-2007 period he was senior marketing director at Mobiltel.

In Bulgaria, Mobiltel competes with Globul, a unit of Greek wireless phone operator Cosmote, and the mobile arm of telecom operator Vivacom.

Besides Mobiltel, the wireless operations of Telekom Austria group (www.telecom.at) include Velcom, Mobilkom Austria, Croatia's Vipnet, Slovenia's Si.mobil, Serbia's Vip mobile and Macedonia's Vip Operator.
