Bulgaria's jobless rate inches up to 4.3% in Oct

November 15 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's registered unemployment rate was 4.3% in October, which represented a month-on-month rise of 0.1 percentage points (pp), the Employment Agency said on Tuesday.

On an annual comparison basis, the jobless rate slipped by 0.4 pp in October, the government agency said in a monthly report.

At the end of month, there were 141,987 registered unemployed people in the country which represented an increase of 3,607 people from the record low level reported for September. The rise mainly reflects the end of seasonal employment.

In October alone, the agency registered 25,482 unemployed people, which was 3,168 more than in September and 150 more than in October 2021.

As many as 12,846 unemployed people started work with the help of labour offices in October. Of them, the largest share, or 19%, found jobs in the manufacturing industry.

There were 11,521 job vacancies on the primary labour market in the month under review, the data showed. The largest percentage of vacancies was reported in the manufacturing industry - 32.4%, followed by trade, car and motorcycle repair with 12.8%, hospitality and catering with 10.5%, education with 8.1%, administrative and auxiliary activities with 7.7% and public administration with 6.2%.
