Bulgaria's jobless rate edges down to 5.9% at end-Dec

SOFIA (Bulgaria), January 15 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria’s registered unemployment rate was 5.9% at the end of December, down by 0.2 pp on an annual comparison basis, the government's Employment Agency said on Wednesday.

At the end of 2019, the number of registered unemployed people was 194,715, a decrease of 3.4% compared to the year-earlier level, the agency said in a statement. 

It noted that for the first time in its history the number of registered unemployed people in December has fallen below 200,000.

A total of 216,256 unemployed people found a job with the help of labour offices countrywide last year. The number of people who found a job in December totalled 11,324.

There were 24,689 unemployed people newly-registered with labour offices in Bulgaria during the month of December.

Bulgaria's registered job vacancies in December were 7,575, most of them in the manufacturing sector - 32.5% of the total.
