Bulgaria's jobless rate edges down in September

SOFIA (Bulgaria), October 16 (SeeNews) – Bulgaria’s jobless rate fell by 0.2 percentage points month-on-month to 6.5% in September, the government's employment agency said on Monday.

Year-on-year, Bulgaria's unemployment rate fell by 1.3 percentage points in September, the employment agency said in a statement.

The number of unemployed people registered with labour offices countrywide fell by an annual 16.5% to 213,307 as at end-September. On a monthly comparison basis, the number of unemployed people dropped by 2.3% in September.

The number of people who found a job in September totalled 22,842. There were 17,270 registered job vacancies in September. The highest number of vacancies was registered in manufacturing – 4,612.

Bulgaria, a nation of some 7.1 million, had an active population of 4.3 million as at end-2016, according to the country's statistical office, NSI.
