On a monthly comparison basis, the industrial PPI fell by 1.8% in January on the back of a 6.5% decline in the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply sector and a 2.6% slip in the mining and quarrying industry, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said in a monthly report.
Producer prices on the domestic market slid by 17.8% on the year in January, following a 19.8% drop in December. The fall last month was primarily due to a 36.8% slump in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply prices. Producer prices on the non-domestic market decreased by an annual 7.1% in January.
In annual terms, the most compelling price increases in Bulgaria's manufacturing industry were posted in the manufacture of tobacco products - by 40%, and in computer, electronic and optical products - by 20.1%. Domestic producer prices in the manufacture of tobacco products soared by 56% year-on-year.
