November 28 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's health ministry will be allocated 20 million levs ($11.2 million/10.2 million euro) under operational programme Regions in Growth 2014-2020 for the purchase of an ambulance helicopter, the regional development ministry said.

The funding is part of a large investment project for modernising Bulgaria's emergency medical services that aims to provide fast means of air rescue and transportation of patients from less accessible areas, as well as to ensure successful delivery of organs for transplantation, the regional development ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.

All emergency medical centres in the country are currently being renovated with 163 million levs financing provided under operational programme Regions in Growth 2014-2020. The ongoing project includes the procurement of 400 ambulances, deputy regional development minister Denitsa Nikolova said.
