Bulgaria’s General Insurance Market To Grow by 22% in 2008 - Media

December 18 (SeeNews) - The gross premium income of Bulgarian general insurance companies is expected to grow by 22% to 1.5 billion levs ($1.09 million/770,000 euro)this year, local Pari daily reported on Thursday.

The premium income of the 17 life insurers operating in Bulgaria is seen rising by 25% to 294 million levs, Pari quoted the deputy chair of Bulgaria’s Financial Supervision Commission, Ralitsa Again, as saying.

Indemnities paid on both life and general insurance policies are expected to rise by 44% to 804 million levs this year.

The premium income of the 20 general insurers operating in Bulgaria rose by 20.7% to 1.2 billion levs last year, while the life insurers saw their premium income rise 26.5% to 251.8 million levs.
