Bulgaria’s Bulgartabac Holding 9-mo cons net profit rises sharply

SOFIA (Bulgaria), November 30 (SeeNews) – Bulgarian tobacco group Bulgartabac Holding [BUL:57B] said its consolidated net profit jumped to 47.4 million levs ($31.5 million/24.2 million euro) in the first nine months of 2012 from 8.4 million levs a year earlier.

Consolidated sales revenue increased by 42.2% on the year to 373.5 million levs in the January-September period, Bulgartabac Holding said in a bourse filing.

The holding’s operating income rose to 61.9 million levs from 11.7 million levs in the first nine months of 2011.

The company said its sales on the domestic market fell by an annual 1.0% due to a fall in tobacco consumption. Bulgartabac sold a total of 1,547.9 tones of tobacco and tobacco stems through September.
