Earlier this year, BDZ Passengers and the tie-up signed a 55.5 million levs deal for 10 locomotives.
The tie-up will also provide free of charge spare parts and consumables worth some 166,000 levs as part of the deal, BDZ Passengers said in a notice to the public procurement agency.
Last month, local media reported that BDZ will receive the first two Smartron locomotives under the initial contract in December, ahead of the February 2021 delivery deadline. The other eight locomotives should be delivered by May 2021.
BDZ Passengers is part of state-owned railway group BDZ Holding.
