In February alone, the number of newly registered passenger cars in Bulgaria leapt by an annual 57.5% to 3,608, ACEA said in a press release.
Between January and February, the highest yearly rise was posted in plug-in hybrid vehicle registrations, by 211.1% to 84 units, followed by diesel cars with a 66.7% jump to 1,162 units.
Battery electric vehicles (EVs) posted the sole yearly decline in registrations, at 7.8% to 318 units.
Petrol was the most popular fuel type for newly registered cars in Bulgaria in the two months to end-February, with 5,890 units.
In the EU, new passenger car registrations grew by 11.2% year-on-year to some 1.74 million units in the first two months of 2024 and added 10.1% to 883,608 units in February alone.
