Bulgaria's 11-mo New Car Sales Rise 9.3% Y/Y - Table

December 9 (SeeNews) - Bulgarian auto dealers sold 49,811 new cars in the first 11 months of 2008, up 9.3% on the year, the country's car importers' union, the association of car manufacturers and their authorised representatives in the country, ACM, said on Tuesday.

Opel is the market leader in the eleven-month period with a 10.13% share, followed by Toyota with 9.67% and Volkswagen with 8.9%, ACM said in a statement.

Sales of new busses and trucks increased to 3,905 in the first 11 months of the year from 2,851 a year earlier. Mercedes topped the list with 1,364 units sold.

Sales of new cars in Bulgaria rose by 22% to 52,009 in 2007. The Black Sea country of 7.6 million people does not manufacture automobiles. Growth in new car sales in Bulgaria will slow down to 18% in the next couple of years but the market will remain attractive, according to research by international agency Research and Markets.
