Bulgarian Stocks Mostly Fall, Trade in Chemical Co Lifts Turnover

October 13 (SeeNews) - Bulgarian stocks ended mostly lower and trade in chemical company Balkan Projecti Management lifted turnover of the bourse in Sofia on Tuesday, bourse data showed.

The SOFIX index, which comprises the 20 most liquid shares trading on the Bulgarian Stock Exchange (BSE), lost 0.78% to 477.17 points and the broader BG40 index, which tracks the 40 most traded shares on the bourse, inched 0.08% down to 129.41 points.

Turnover, excluding block and other pre-agreed deals, surged to 4.1 million levs ($3.1 million/2.1 million euro) from 869,000 levs on Monday.

Trade in Balkan Projecti Management made half of the turnover as 18,137 company stocks were traded, ending flat at 111 levs.

Cables and conductors manufacturer Emka, part of blue-chip industrial group Industrial Holding Bulgaria, was heavily traded as well - in a volume of 55,555 shares which closed 1.35% higher at 2.25 levs.

Industrial groups Chimimport, a SOFIX member, Stara Planina Hold , a member of the BG40 index, and Industrial Holding Bulgaria were also very liquid on Tuesday.

A total 6,921 ordinary stocks and 55,145 preferred shares of Chimimport changed hands, ending 0.4% and 0.44% lower at 2.5 levs and 2.48 levs, respectively.

Stara Planina Hold fell 2.45% to 1.95 levs in a volume of 53,821 stocks and Industral Holding Bulgaria lost 0.23% to 2.15 levs as 50,412 of its shares were traded.

Trade in bonds worth 978,000 levs also helped the rise in turnover. Bonds of wholesaler and distributor of automotive products and services Avto Union Group , part of blue-chip financial and insurance group Eurohold Bulgaria, were the only that traded on Tuesday.

Thirty-seven stocks fell, 34 rose and 11 closed unchanged.

The BG-REIT index, which tracks the performance of real estate investment trusts, was the only index to rise, adding 0.67% to 48.24 points. The BG TotalReturn30 index, in which companies with a free float of at least 10% have equal weight, edged 0.52% down to 359.76 points.

The Dnevnik 20 index, calculated by local business daily Dnevnik from the share prices of the 20 leading companies in terms of liquidity and market capitalisation, dropped 0.6% to 69.53 points.
