Bulgarian stock indices close mixed, Eurohold paces losers

January 3 (SeeNews) - Three of the five indices of the Bulgarian Stock Exchange (BSE) closed lower on Wednesday, with the blue-chip SOFIX shedding the most, or 1.44% to 757.78 points, bourse data showed.

The lowest-performing SOFIX constituent was energy and insurance group Eurohold Bulgaria [BUL:EUBG], which plunged by 10.00% to 1.53 levs. Pharmaceuticals trader Sopharma Trading [BUL:SFT] followed, sliding by 2.50% to 5.85 levs.

The two companies also drove down the BGBX40, which tracks the 40 most traded shares on the Sofia bourse, and the BGTR30, in which companies with a free float of at least 10% have equal weight. The BGBX40 was additionally constrained by a 2.13% decline in aluminium products manufacturer Alcomet [BUL:ALCM] to 6.90 levs.

Overall, the BGBX40 sank by 0.78% to 156.77 points, while the BGTR30 ended the session 0.31% lower at 796.51 points.

In contrast, a 0.30% climb in Advance Terrafund REIT [BUL:ATER] to 3.32 levs lifted the BGREIT. The index, which tracks seven real estate investment trusts, grew by 0.06% to 191.03 points.

The BEAMX index, which tracks the ten most highly capitalised growth companies, jumped by 1.54% to 102.00 points. It was propelled by venture capital fund Webit Investment Network [BUL:WIN], which surged 9.87% to 0.835 levs, and investment company HR Capital [BUL:HRC], which added 2.00% to 2.04 levs.

Diversified group Republic Holding [BUL:HREP] was the most liquid stock of the day, generating 292,530 levs ($163,867/149,568 euro) from trades in 147,000 shares. The company's shares closed flat at 1.99 levs.

Total turnover on the main market of the Sofia bourse slumped to 253,506 levs on Wednesday from 570,171 levs on Tuesday.
