March 14 (SeeNews) - Bulgarian River Shipping company [BUL:BRP] said it posted a consolidated net loss of some 1.1 million levs ($615,233/562,419 euro) in 2023, compared to a net profit of 4.7 million levs the prior year.

Bulgarian River Shipping's total revenue dropped to 27.1 million levs last year from 42.1 million levs in 2022, the company said in a financial statement at the end of February.

Revenue from transportation activities fell by an annual 23% to 19.5 million levs, whereas production activities generated 8.5% more in revenue, at 3.5 million levs.

At the same time, the company's operating expenses narrowed to some 30.1 million levs in the review period from 38.8 million levs a year earlier. The decline was mainly due to a lack of losses from operations with financial assets and instruments, which stood at 10.8 million levs in 2022.

Bulgarian River Shipping, founded in 1935, transports cargo among the Danube river countries.

Shares in the company last traded on February 28 when they closed at 0.75 levs on the Bulgarian Stock Exchange, bourse data show.
