December 12 (SeeNews) - The share of Bulgarians who prefer electronic payments when shopping online has exceeded that of people who would rather pay cash upon delivery, a recent survey conducted by payment card company Visa showed.
About 48% of Bulgarians online shoppers this year chose to pay via an electronic device, as compared to 39% a year earlier, the survey conducted by the local unit of Visa showed. The share of people who opted for cash payments upon delivery fell by 3 percentage points to 38%.
About a quarter of Bulgarians shopping online used debit cards, up by 8 percentage points.
Online shopping is becoming a daily routine for Bulgarians, Krassimira Raycheva, manager of Visa Bulgaria, said as quoted in the statement.
Around 41% of Bulgarians shop online more than once ah month, while 10% of consumers make online purchases more than once a week.
Online purchases are most often made in Bulgarian online stores (42%), large international retailers (23%) and other international online stores (18%).
