A tie-up led by Bulgaria's GP Group and including Spain-based Contratas Iglesias carried out the rehabilitation of the larger 26.4-km section of the road under an 18 million levs contract, the government agency said in a statement.

The project benefited from EU funding under the Interreg V-A Greece-Bulgaria programme.

Another tie-up, comprising local companies Patstroyengineering, PSK Viastroy, Patishta, BSK-Gorna Oryahovitsa and Atlas Balkan, completed the rehabilitation of a further 6-km section of the road under a 3.4 million levs deal.
