The financing is provided under the Rural Development Programme co-funded by the EU and the government, the ministry said in a statement.

The ministry said earlier that local action groups in Bulgaria will receive over 280 million euro ($271.8 million) in support of the agricultural sector in the period from 2023 to 2027. The funding will be distributed under the Strategic Plan for the Development of Agriculture and Rural Areas.

Local action groups are non profit-making compositions made up of organisations from rural areas. The groups are entitled to apply for financial assistance through the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) to implement local development strategy.
