Bulgarian Business Sentiment Index Maintains Downward Trend in September

September 26 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's business sentiment index fell 0.4 percentage points on the month in September, sinking to its lowest level since October 2008, the National Statistics Institute (NSI) said on Saturday.

In September, the construction sub-index lost 2.3 points due to managers’ pessimistic expectations about the business situation in the next six months. For the third consecutive month managers expecting a decrease in price level prevailed.

In September, the retail sub-index gained 1.0 percentage point due to the managers' optimistic expectations regarding the business situation over the next six months. Overall, maganers expect an increase in prices over the following months.

The index gauging the business climate in the services sector decreased for the secong consecutive month. It lost 1.5 percentage points from August due to the more unfavourable assessments of the business situation and to the more pessimistic expectations about the next six months. Overall, managers continue to expect prices to fall over the next three months.

The September industry sub-index remained unchanged. Managers continue to consider the present economic situation uncertain but expect prices to increase over the next three months.
