Bulgarian Business Sentiment Index Continues to Fall in December

December 29 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's business sentiment index fell by 18.8 percentage points in December, indicating a deteriorating economic environment, the National Statistics Institute (NSI) said on Monday.

The industry sub-index for December fell 10.3 points, to a level which is 2.5 percentage points below the the long-term average, NSI said.

In December, the construction sub-index lost a further 12.9 points after falling by 6.8 points last month, and by 5.2 points in October. Overall, 70.6% of managers said the prices in the sector will remain unchanged.

The sub-index in the retail sector dropped by 16.6 points from the previous month, as managers were pessimistic in their expectations regarding the state of the sector in the next six months.

The index gauging the business climate in the services sector fell by 44 percentage points. A total 65.7% of the managers in the sector expect prices to remain stable in the next three months.
