The PV installation will be mounted on existing buildings which are part of the company's production facilities, Alcomet said in a bourse filing on Friday.

The company did not provide any further information regarding the cost of the investment proposal or when the module will be commissioned.

Based in Shumen, northeastern Bulgaria, Alcomet produces household, technical and container foils, sheets and strips, as well as standard and customised profiles.

Last month, the aluminium producer reported a jump in its standalone net profit to 34 million levs ($17.9 million/17.4 million euro) in the first nine months of 2022 from 742,000 levs in the same period of 2021. The solid performance came on the back of a 69% surge in sales of special aluminium profiles, mostly linked to increased demand by the solar PV industry.

As at 1209 CET, shares in Alcomet traded 1.23% higher at 8.20 levs on the Bulgarian Stock Exchange.
