Bulgaria to seek funding for Sofia-Kalotina motorway project under Juncker plan

The Bulgarian government is completely ready with the design of the motorway project but needs to secure financing in order to start work on it, the government said in a press release on Tuesday.

The Sofia-Kalotina motorway consists of three lots with a combined length of 75 kilometres and an estimated price of 405 million euro ($504.8 million), according to data from the regional development ministry.

In November the president of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker, proposed a plan to unlock over 315 billion euro in public and private investments in the bloc's real economy over the 2015-2017 period. European Union member states have submitted some 2,000 projects worth 1.3 trillion euro for possible inclusion in the plan, internet portal EurActiv has reported.
