The new financial structure will streamline revenue administration, the ministry said in a statement.
As part of the initiative, finance minister Assen Vassilev has appointed Pavel Tonev, former director of the customs agency, as his advisor to facilitate the establishment of the unified agency.
Meanwhile, Petya Bankova will become director of the customs agency, having previously served as its deputy executive director.
Unified revenue agencies have been implemented in EU countries like Denmark, Estonia, Ireland, Spain, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia and Hungary, as well as the US and UK, the ministry said.
