Stadler Polska met all requirements outlined in a public procurement procedure launched in February, the transport ministry said in a statement on Thursday.

The project involves the delivery and 15-year maintenance of the trains, each with a minimum capacity of 300 seats, along with staff training, public procurement register data show.

The new rolling stock should be delivered within 26 months.

In parallel, Bulgaria is set to begin talks on Friday with Spanish train manufacturer Patentes Talgo SL for the supply of 20 push-pull trains, which the company has offered to deliver for some 1.22 billion levs, according to data from the public procurement register. Additionally, a 1.1 billion levs tender for the supply of 35 single-deck electric trains has been reopened for bids, with a submission deadline of April 11, the transport ministry added.
