Bulgaria opens three bids for construction of Struma motorway section

The bidders are a tie-up consisting of Turkey’s Dogus Insaat Ve Ticaret, Russia’s NPO Mostovik and Bulgaria’s Hydrostroy; a tie-up between Italy’s Impresa, and local companies GBS Infrastructure Construction and Patstroy-92; and a consortium consisting of Bulgarian construction company Trace Group Hold [BUL:T57] and Spain’s Obrascon Huarte Lain, the agency said in a statement.

The bids range from 299 million levs ($197.4 million/153.9 million euro) to 355 million levs. The consortium comprising Impresa, GBS Infrastructure Construction and Patstroy-92 has offered the lowest price and has received the highest score for its technical proposal and execution period.

In assessing the bids the relative weight of the technical parameters will be 35, against 50 of the financial terms and 15 of the execution period.

The agency said in May that the indicative value of the contract was 200 million levs, net of Value Added Tax.

The construction is expected to begin in the beginning of the spring and to be completed in 2015.

The construction of the road section between the towns of Dupnitsa and Blagoevgrad is co-financed by the EU-funded operational programme Transport.

The Struma motorway, with a total length of 173.28 km, is part of pan-European transport Corridor IV.
