Bulgaria-Greece border checkpoint Makaza to open in March

December 18 (SeeNews) - Greek prime minister Antonis Samaras said construction works on the Greek side of the Makaza border checkpoint between the Mediterranean country and Bulgaria will be completed by March, the government in Sofia said.

The prime ministers of the two countries share the view that the launch of the border checkpoint will boost bilateral trade and tourism, the Bulgarian government said in a press release following a meeting between Greek and Bulgarian cabinet ministers in Athens on Monday.

On the Bulgarian side, the checkpoint and the adjacent infrastructure have already been built.

Five checkpoints operate on the border between Bulgaria and Greece.
