October 3 (SeeNews) - The European Commission has terminated an infringement procedure against Bulgaria over delays in the introduction of fixed-line number portability, the transport ministry in Sofia said on Monday.
"The delay in the introduction of the service [...] was caused by the fact that some of the fixed lines were supported by older analogue switchboards,” the ministry said in statement.
To address the country's obligations for the implementation of fixed-line number portability, Bulgaria amended accordingly its geographic number portability rules.
In May, the Bulgarian authorities send the last batch of additional data to the Commission, thus proving they have taken all measures that are needed to implement fixed-line numbers portability.
As a result, the Commission decided on September 29 that Bulgaria has honored its obligations in that respect, the statement said.
