Bulgaria Brings Troops Back from Iraq

December 17 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria completed the withdrawal of its 155-strong force from Iraq on Wednesday when its last troops stationed near Baghdad returned home, the government said.

Bulgaria Brings Troops Back from Iraq

Some 3,250 Bulgarian military have been part of the U.S.-led multinational force in the Gulf state since 2003 when Sofia sent its first troops there. Bulgaria, which joined NATO in 2004, lost 13 soldiers in Iraq.

Last month the Bulgarian government decided to make no further proposals to send fresh troops to Iraq. The country has troops in missions in Afghanistan, Kosovo and Bosnia.
