Bulgaria Aims To Contract 50 Wastewater Treatment Plants for 277 Mln Euro by May '09

“We expect very serious efforts on the part of the municipalities and mayors by December 15, which is the submission deadline for the projects,” Environment Minister Dzhevdet Chakarov said in a statement.

The ministry started collecting projects last week.

The ex-communist state that joined the European Union in 2007 must build water purifying stations in all population centers with more than 10,000 residents by 2010. It should reconstruct another 37 facilities within that timeframe.
