September 1 (SeeNews) - Bulgarian public gas supplier Bulgargaz said on Friday it has tabled a definitive request to the country's utilities regulator to approve a wholesale natural gas price applicable for September of 63.35 levs ($35.09/32.39 euro) per MWh, or an increase of around 6% on the previous month.

The price increase proposal reflects monthly changes in the day-ahead segment of the main European TTF natural gas virtual trading point, which has risen by 19% compared to August, Bulgargaz said in a press release.

The wholesale price of natural gas in Bulgaria for August was 59.67 levs per MWh, as approved by the the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (EWRC). This represented a monthly decline of 1.4%.

In mid-August, Bulgargaz made an initial proposal to the utilities regulator for a natural gas price of 59.27 levs per MWh for the month of September. It also forecast the October price to be 64.43 levs per MWh.

Last month, public gas grid operator Bulgartransgaz said that Bulgaria's underground gas storage facility Chiren was over 90% full.
