November 2 (SeeNews) - The Bucharest city government signed five financing contracts worth a total 260 million euro ($258.2 million) for the rehabilitation of the city's heating network.
The process will comprise the rehabilitation of 210 kilometres of the Romanian capital's heating network, the city hall said in a press release on Tuesday.
Of the 260 million euro invested, 200 million euro are non-reimbursable EU funds franted under the Large Infrastructure Operational Program, according to mayor Nicusor Dan.
The design and execution contracts were signed for a period of four years, and works are due to start in the spring of 2023.
"Heating is one of the priorities of this administration because the heating system represents one of the biggest problems Bucharest is facing, in which no investment has been made for over 30 years," Nicusor Dan said.
The project will be carried out by five Romanian tie-ups, each in charge of a section with a length of approximately 40 km.
