Bucharest Share Indices Sustain Rally on Global Optimism

BUCHAREST (Romania), October 6 (SeeNews) – The Bucharest bourse indices rose further on Tuesday, bolstered by upbeat sentiment abroad, brokers said.

Bucharest Share Indices Sustain Rally on Global Optimism

The blue-chip BET index of the Bucharest Stock Exchange, BVB, gained 2.78% to 4,347.18 points. The BET-FI index, which tracks the country’s five regional investment funds, the SIFs, paced the gains, jumping 4.8% to 24,274.44 points.

The composite BET-C index rose 2.55% to 2,616.82 and the ROTX index of Romania's 15 most liquid stocks, a joint index of the BVB and the Vienna Stock Exchange, climbed 2.81% to 9,156.41.

BVB's turnover fell to 25.4 million lei ($8.8 million/5.9 million euro) from 34.2 million lei on Monday. The number of traded shares jumped to 101 million from 43.6 million on Monday.

SIF 5 Oltenia gained 5.13% to 1.23 lei in the day's largest turnover of 5.8 million lei.

Blue-chip oil refinery Rompetrol Rafinare was up 3.26% to 0.0602 lei on deals worth 3.6 million lei, Tuesday’s second largest turnover. Rompetrol Well Services  was the session's biggest riser, soaring 14.85% to 0.433 lei in 680,000 lei turnover. Dutch-based Rompetrol Group is the majority owner in both companies and is expected to launch buyout bids for the remaining stakes later this week.

Blue-chip bank BRD added 2.56% to 12.0 lei in the session’s third largest turnover of 3.0 million lei.

SIF 2 Moldova ended 5.61% higher at 1.13 lei in 2.2 million lei turnover, while SIF 1 Banat Crisana surged 4.55% to 1.15 lei in 1.9 million lei turnover. SIF 3 Transilvania soared 5.15% to 0.715 lei in 1.6 million lei turnover.

Austria’s Erste Bank closed up 3.28% at 122.7 lei in 1.3 million lei turnover, while its blue-chip peer Banca Transilvania added 0.64% to 1.58 lei in 838,000 lei turnover.

Blue-chip oil and gas group Petrom advanced 4.8% to 0.262 lei in a turnover of 1.2 million lei, and oil and gas company Dafora surged 6.36% to 0.117 lei in deals worth 1.1 million lei.

The BET-XT index, which tracks the 25 most liquid companies on the bourse, including the SIFs, was up 3.33% to 438.66 points. The BET-NG, which includes companies from the energy sector and utilities, jumped 3.71% to 595.84 points.

Rasdaq-C, the composite index of the over-the-counter market RASDAQ, edged down 0.02% to 2,179.03. Turnover on the RASDAQ rose to 1.0 million lei from 675,000 lei on Monday.
