The blue-chip BET index of the Bucharest Stock Exchange, BVB, fell 2.02% to 4,869.41 points. The BET-FI, which tracks the country's five regional investment funds, the SIFs, dropped 4.12% to 23,252.51 points.
The composite BET-C index shed 2.2% to 2,803.14. The ROTX index of Romania's 15 most liquid stocks, a joint index of the BVB and the Vienna Stock Exchange, closed 2.46% lower at 10,049.59.
BVB's turnover rose to 24.2 million lei ($8.5 million/5.6 million euro), including 1.3 million lei worth of bonds, from 21.3 million lei on Wednesday. The number of traded shares increased to 48 million from 28.8 million on Wednesday.
SIF 5 Oltenia closed 3.1% lower at 1.25 lei in the day's largest turnover of 4.3 million lei. SIF 2 Moldova dropped 3.54% to 1.09 lei on deals worth a total of 3.1 million lei, Thursday’s second highest turnover. Austria’s Erste dipped 4.31% to 117.7 lei on the regular market in the session’s third largest turnover of 2.7 million lei.
SIF 3 Transilvania slumped 4.29% to 0.67 lei in 1.6 million lei turnover. SIF 4 Muntenia tumbled 5.48% to 0.69 lei in deals worth 2.3 million lei.
Blue-chip lender Banca Transilvania declined 1.35% to 2.2 lei in deals worth 1.9 million lei. The other blue-chip bank, BRD, shed 4.26% to 13.5 lei in 1.2 million lei turnover.
Blue-chip oil refinery Rompetrol Rafinare slipped 3.14% to 0.0679 lei in deals worth 1.5 million lei. Pipeline builder Condmag was among the few stocks to rise, adding 1.52% to 0.67 lei in 914,000 lei turnover.
The BET-XT index, which tracks the 25 most liquid companies on the bourse, including the SIFs, ended down 2.68% at 470.54 points. The BET-NG, which includes companies from the energy sector and utilities, slid 1.34% to 618.50 points.
Rasdaq-C, the composite index of the over-the-counter market RASDAQ, fell 1.39% to 2,169.9. Turnover on the RASDAQ nearly tripled to 1.5 million lei from 593,000 lei on Wednesday.
