Bucharest Bourse Indices Fall in Line with Global Trend, Turnover Drops

BUCHAREST (Romania), November 17 (SeeNews) – Romanian stocks retreated on Tuesday, in line with losses abroad, amid falling turnover and lackluster trading, brokers said.

Bucharest Bourse Indices Fall in Line with Global Trend, Turnover Drops

The blue-chip BET index of the Bucharest Stock Exchange, BVB, shed 1.11% to 4,782.48 points. The BET-FI index, which tracks the country's five regional investment funds, the SIFs, lost 1.71% to 22,517.16 points.

The composite BET-C index fell 1.4% to 2,781.46. The ROTX index of Romania's 15 most liquid stocks, a joint index of the BVB and the Vienna Stock Exchange, declined 1.87% to 10,008.02.

BVB's turnover more than halved to 13.6 million lei ($4.7 million/3.2 million euro) from 30.2 million lei on Monday. The number of traded shares decreased to 18.7 million from 37.9 million on Monday.

SIF 5 Oltenia shed 1.65% to 1.19 lei in the day's largest turnover of 3.3 million lei. SIF 2 Moldova dipped 1.87% to 1.05 lei on deals worth a total of 1.7 million lei, Tuesday’s second highest turnover. Austria’s Erste dropped 4.58% to 125 lei on the regular market in the session’s third largest turnover of 1.4 million lei.

SIF 3 Transilvania closed down 2.26% at 0.65 lei in 822,000 lei turnover, while SIF 1 Banat Crisana was off 1.83% at 1.07 lei in deals worth 966,000 lei.

Blue-chip bank BRD slipped 1.46% to 13.5 lei in 573,000 lei turnover, while its blue-chip peer Banca Transilvania fell 0.94% to 2.1 lei in deals worth 1.3 million lei.

Blue-chip oil and gas group OMV Petrom backed off by 1.52% to 0.26 lei in 712,000 lei turnover.

The BET-XT index, which tracks the 25 most liquid companies on the bourse, including the SIFs, ended 1.42% down at 461.54 points. The BET-NG, which includes companies from the energy sector and utilities, closed 0.99% lower at 606.34 points.

Rasdaq-C, the composite index of the over-the-counter market RASDAQ, edged down 0.19% to 2,229.35. Turnover on the RASDAQ rose to 3.7 million lei from 1.2 million lei on Monday as 43,689 shares of textile firm Tesatoriile Reunite changed hands for a combined 2.14 million lei in 13 transactions.
