Tanase's mandate is due to expire on December 31 and has been extended until the end of next year, the BVB said in a statement on Wednesday.
The mandate extension will need to be confirmed by the country's Financial Supervisory Authority, ASF.
Tanase was appointed CEO at BVB in January 2018.
Earlier this month, Tanase said that the Bucharest Stock Exchange is expected to see more volatility in the last quarter of this year, in line with international markets, as investors fear rising interest rates and potential recession in developed markets.
BVB shares traded 0.62% lower at 32.2 lei ($6.62/ 6.6 euro) as at 0918 CET on Thursday.
