Bosnia's Serb Republic trade deficit up 36% y/y in Jan-Aug

September 22 (SeeNews) - Bosnia's Serb Republic recorded a trade deficit of 961.6 million marka ($ 485 million/492 million euro) in the first eight months of this year, compared with a trade gap of some 705.1 million marka in the same period of 2021, the entity's statistical office said on Thursday quoting preliminary data.

Exports increased by 30.6% year-on-year in the January-August period, reaching 3.594 billion marka, while imports added 31.7% to 4.555 billion marka, the Serb Republic's Institute of Statistics said in a monthly report.

The Serb Republic's main export destinations in the first еight months were Serbia and Croatia, absorbing 17.5% and 13.9% respectively of the entity's total exports.

The largest importers into the entity were Serbia and Italy, with shares of 17.8% and 16.4% of all imports, respectively.

Bosnia's Serb Republic recorded a trade deficit of 1.152 billion marka in 2021, up 6.8% on the year.

The Serb Republic is one of two autonomous entities that form Bosnia and Herzegovina. The other entity is the Federation.
