Bosnia's public debt at 26.7% of GDP at end-2023

March 12 (SeeNews) - Bosnia and Herzegovina's public debt totalled 12.95 billion marka ($7.2 billion/6.6 billion euro) at the end of 2023, equivalent to 26.73% of the projected gross domestic product (GDP) for that year, slightly up from 12.7 billion marka at the end of the previous quarter, finance ministry data showed on Tuesday.

The public debt of Bosnia's Federation rose to 6.6 billion marka at the end of December from 6.39 billion marka three months earlier, whereas the public debt of the Serb Republic fell to 6.24 billion marka from 6.25 billion marka, the finance ministry said in a quarterly debt report.

The public debt of Brcko district amounted to 45.30 million marka at the end of December, down from 45.73 million marka at the end of September. The public debt of the state-level institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina increased to 60.23 million marka at the end of December from 60.04 million marka three months earlier.

At the end of 2022, Bosnia's public debt totalled 13 billion marka, equivalent to 28.60% of the country's GDP.

Bosnia and Herzegovina is made up of two autonomous entities - the Serb Republic and the Federation, and the self-governing Brcko District.
