April 11 (SeeNews) - Bosnian power utility Elektroprivreda BiH [SAJ:JPESR] said it has proposed a new electricity pricing model to the Federation's Regulatory Commission for Energy (FERK), linking the price per kilowatt hour (kWh) to monthly consumption levels and increasing prices for heavy consumers.
The proposal introduces three tariffs based on consumption levels - green, blue, and red - with varying prices, where the green tariff remains unchanged for households consuming up to 268 kWh per month, Elektroprivreda BiH said in a press release on Tuesday.
The blue tariff applies to consumption between 268 kWh and 1,000 kWh, and the red tariff is for consumption exceeding 1,000 kWh, each with different pricing models.
Elektroprivreda BiH stated that the proposal aims to save electricity, enhance energy efficiency, and stabilise the energy sector to prevent higher prices for consumers, noting that approximately 60% of households will see no change in electricity prices.
Elektroprivreda BiH, Bosnia's largest power utility, is based in the Federation entity. Elektroprivreda RS is the power utility of the Serb Republic.
The Federation and the Serb Republic are two autonomous entities that form Bosnia and Herzegovina.
