October 28 (SeeNews) - Bosnian civil engineering company Euro-Asfalt has signed a 57.6 million euro ($63.9 million) contract for the construction of the Ivan tunnel, part of European transport corridor Vc, road company Autoceste FBiH said.
The tunnel construction will be financed by a 50 million euro loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and through an 11.4 million euro grant by the Western Balkans Investment Framework, Autoceste FBiH said in a press release.
"Next month we will start to prepare the site for the Ivan tunnel, i.e. the construction of access roads from Bradina and Tarcin, so that we could launch works on the tunnel at the beginning of next year," Euro-Asfalt's CEO Hamed Ramic said.
The Ivan tunnel is part of the Tarcin - Ivan motorway section. Located some 35 km west of Sarajevo, the tunnel is some 1,700 metres in length. The section from Tarcin to the entrance of the tunnel is 4.9 km long.
Corridor Vc has a total length of 700 km and connects the port of Ploce in Croatia with Budapest in Hungary via Bosnia. Its length in Bosnia is some 340 km.
