November 9 (SeeNews) - The environment ministry of Bosnia's Serb Republic said it has received a request from state-owned power utility Elektroprivreda Republike Srpske (ERS) and hydro power producer Hidroelektrane na Trebisnjici (HET) to conduct a preliminary environmental impact assessment (EIA) of a project for the construction of the 32 MW Bileca hydro power plant (HPP).
The public can examine the request and submit an opinion within 15 days from the publication of the notice, the ministry said in a notice on Wednesday.
HET holds the concession for the construction of the Bileca HPP. The concession contract signed in February 2023 was worth 127.7 million marka ($69.9 million/65.3 million euro). HET is majority owned by ERS.
The Serb Republic is one of two autonomous entities that make up Bosnia and Herzegovina. The other one is the Federation.
