December 18 (SeeNews) - Bosnian power utility Elektroprivreda BiH [SAJ:JPESR] has invited bids for consultancy services for review and approval of documentation and supervision of works for the construction of hydro power plant (HPP) Vranduk, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) said on Thursday.

Elektroprivreda BiH (EPBiH) intends using the proceeds of an EBRD loan towards the cost of Vranduk HPP project, the EBRD said in a statement.

The biding deadline is January 29.

The consultancy assignment is expected to start in May 2015 and last about 44 months.

EPBiH is currently conducting a tender procedure for selection of a contractor for design, manufacturing, supply and installation of equipment, civil works, testing and commissioning of HPP Vranduk.

The design and construction contract is expected to start in March 2015.

HPP Vranduk is located in the municipality of Zenica, at a location between the city of Zenica and Nemila, in the vicinity of the Vranduk settlement.

HPP Vranduk is a new diversion, run-of-the-river hydro power plant that will operate continuously with an operating capacity of around 20 megawatts of installed power.

Last month, EPBiH said it received final bids in the construction tender for HPP Vranduk from Turkey’s Cengiz Insaat Sanayi ve Ticaret, China’s Dongfang Electric Corporation, Italy’s Cooperativa Muratori&Cementisti as well as from a consortium of Slovenia’s Riko and Bosnia’s Euroasfalt and a joint venture of Austria’s Strabag and Croatia’s Koncar KET.

In April, EPBiH said the EIB had approved a 37.5 million euro ($46.2 million) loan for the Vranduk HPP project after the EBRD had previously agreed to lend 26 million euro. A total of 11 million euro in project costs will be invested by EPBiH itself, the Bosnian power utility said at the time.
