May 20 (SeeNews) - The environment ministry of Bosnia's Serb Republic said it has received a request from the local unit of German-based EnerState to conduct a preliminary environmental impact assessment (EIA) of a project for the construction of a 100 MW solar power plant in Sokolac.

The Sokolac 100 MW power plant will be built on a plot of 137 hectares, the ministry said in a statement on Friday.

The public can examine the requests and submit an opinion within 15 days from their announcement.

The ministry of energy and mining of the Serb Republic in January signed a concession agreement worth about 100 million euro ($108.6 million) with EnerState for the construction and operation of the solar power plant.

The Serb Republic is one of two autonomous entities that make up Bosnia and Herzegovina. The other one is the Federation.
