The project for the gasification of Bijeljina is in its final phase and is being carried out without problems with 22 million euro ($26.3 million) invested so far, public broadcaster RTRS quoted Bijeljina mayor, Mico Micic, as saying on Tuesday.
A total of 300 km of the natural gas grid has already been built and 5,000 connection points have been installed in the properties of citizens, Micic added.
The local authorities hold a 20% stake in the capital of BN Gas and have the obligation to expropriate land for the construction of the natural gas distribution network. The construction works are being carried out by Serbian company Novi Sad Gas.
Bijeljina is located in the Serb Republic, one of the two autonomous entities making up Bosnia and Herzegovina. The other one is the Federation.
