Bosnia's BH Telecom eyes 2012 profit of 76 mln euro

BH Telecom director general Nedzad Residbegovic said in a statement on Wednesday the company's performance this year, when costs are seen at 464 million marka, was influenced by a number of factors like the economic recession, competition, the market liberalisation, political effects and the complicated enforcement of public procurement legislation.

The company invested 110 million marka in 2012 while since 2004, when it was registered as a joint stock enterprise, spending on technological and infrastructure development adds up to 1.3 billion marka.

BH Telecom's active mobile users total 1.493 million, including 1.31 million prepaid subscribers. The company added 26,000 subscribers of its Moja TV platform this year, raising their number to 67,000, while its ADSL subscribers rose by 30,000 to 147,500.

BH Telecom is the largest of the three telecoms operating in Bosnia, which comprises two autonomous entities, a Muslim-Croat Federation and a Serb Republic. The company is based in Bosnia's capital Sarajevo and has customers mainly in the Federation. It offers fixed and mobile voice services and Internet access.

The other two Bosnian telecoms are HT Mostar, which is active in the Federation, and Telekom Srpske which operates in the Serb Republic.
