November 11 (SeeNews) - Autoceste FBiH, the state-owned motorway operator of Bosnia's Federation, said on Friday it has signed a 167.1 million euro ($172.3 million) deal with local company Euro-Asfalt for the construction of a section of European corridor Vc in the country.

The contract concerns the construction of a motorway section connecting the tunnel Putnikovo Brdo to the Medakovo interchange, which is expected to be completed within 24 months, Autoceste FBiH said in a press release.

The 8.5-kilometre-long road section includes six bridges, one tunnel and two interchanges.

The project is financed with loans from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and grants from the EU through the Western Balkans Investment Framework (WBIF), Autoceste FBiH said.

The Federation is one of two autonomous entities that form Bosnia and Herzegovina. The other is the Serb Republic.

Corridor Vc is a pan-European transport project and the section in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is 325 kilometres long, will cross the country from north to south, connecting the Adriatic port of Ploce in Croatia with the Hungarian capital Budapest.
