Bosnian Hydropower Plant Group Drina Turns to 9-Mo Profit - Table

October 21 (SeeNews) - Bosnian hydropower plant group Drina on Tuesday posted a net profit of some 398,000 marka ($276,000/203,000 euro) for the nine months of 2008, versus a loss of 2.24 million marka in the year-ago period, as revenue rose faster than costs.

The company’s operating assets totalled 527.4 million marka at the end of September, up from 526.0 million marka nine months earlier.

Its shares were traded at an average price of 0.496 marka on Tuesday, up 9.73% from the previous trading last Friday. The statement was issued after the close of trading on Tuesday.

Hidroelektrane na Drini is located in the eastern part of the Serb Republic, which together with the Muslim-Croat Federation forms war-divided Bosnia.

The complex is one of three hydropower groups in the Serb Republic and has a combined installed capacity of 315 megawatts. The other two groups are located on the banks of the Trebisnjica and Vrbas rivers.

The Serb Republic also has two coal mining and power generation complexes - Ugljevik in northeastern Bosnia and Gacko in southern Bosnia - whose plants have generation capacity of 300 megawatts each.
