September 23 (SeeNews) - The indices on the Belgrade Stock Exchange (BELEX) closed lower on Tuesday as blue-chip AIK Banka boosted the bourse's daily turnover for a second day in a row, brokers said.

Belgrade Indices Fall, AIK Banka Trades in Highest Volume Again

The blue-chip BELEX15 index closed 1.22% down at 1,153.01 after closing flat on Monday. The index has lost some 50% of its value since the beginning of the year.

The broader BELEXline dropped 0.34% to 2,158.56 on Tuesday following a 0.39% fall a day earlier, while the joint SRX index of the bourses in Belgrade and Vienna fell by 1.62% to 673.61 points.

“Though they were concluded outside block trading, the transactions in AIK Banka today were also agreed between two clients,” Danko Knezevic, a broker with Delta brokerage, told SeeNews. “We will be able to see who they are in the central registry in three days.”

“Besides AIK Banka, nothing interesting happened,” he added.

Total BELEX turnover plunged to 361 million dinars ($7.0 million/4.7 million euro) from 638 million dinars on Monday, when a block transaction in blue chip AIK Banka accounted for some 538 million dinars of the daily turnover.

On Tuesday, AIK Banka lost 6.17% to 4,879 dinars in 289 million dinars of turnover, the bulk of the total. Blue-chip soybean producer Sojaprotein Becej added 0.76% to 1,715 dinars in 14.2 million dinars of turnover, the second highest for the day.
