BUCHAREST (Romania), October 21 (SeeNews) – Belgian supplier of production equipment and services for the electronics industry IPTE said its subsidiary, cable producer Connect Systems, will close a production unit in Slovakia and will relocate to Romania in order to reduce costs.

Belgian Cable Producer Connect Systems To Move Production to Romania from Slovakia

Connect Systems plans to move the production to the northwestern city of Oradea by the first quarter of next year, IPTE said in a statement on its website. The company has been operating a plant with total assembling capacity of 16,000 square metres in Oradea since May this year.

“[…] with the growing cost structure in Slovakia and the low market potential compared with other eastern European facilities, the Slovakian plant no longer fits into our strategy of further expansion on the European electronics market,” the statement said.

By transferring the cabling activities of Connect Systems to Romania, the company aims at maintaining its  low-cost structure by improving efficiency, simplifying logistics and communication.

IPTE (www.ipte.com), through its two subsidiaries, IPTE Factory Automation and Connect Systems Group, employees some 2,500 in Europe, the United States and Asia.
